This project was commissioned by Patrick Hanlon at Thinktopia. Thinktopia is a branding advisement company and they wanted to create an animated poster to spread their message through social media. Patrick wanted to portrait the conception of ideas as a magical process that only occurred if you were willing to enter the unbelievable realm of impossible. We came up with a rough animation of me playing with and idea as a seed that germinates and becomes a tree ready to bear fruits.
Pauline Frossel, curator at the Underdogs Gallery was very kind on offering a solo show. I had just returned to Portugal and this opportunity to try new things and formats were bliss. I decided to mix, poetry, comic narrative, architecture and the human body. All the paintings are spray on canvas.
This intervention was made in collaboration with the almighty Pepes Studio and Bragapark. The idea was create a walk through museum of urban art in a mall, so costumers could interact with the pieces as they went about their daily lives. I got a big staircase to draw on and my idea was to bring nature to the interior and to create a parallel between a walk in a park and climbing up and down the stairs.
This was one of my most interesting experiments in book making as this book is not really a book. It has folded pages, it can be read as a regular book, but it also works as an interactive object as it can be spread on the floor and be experienced in a number of different ways. When Miguel from Bruáá (a special publishing house in Portugal) asked me to make this book, I was thrilled, not only because of the nature of the project but the text, by Charles Crós is very, very, very funny and I could finally make a piece that crossed to the performative arts. This book is to be read out loud with a smile on your face and left out to dry like a real smoked herring.
This piece was made in collaboration with Mistaker Maker for their Urban Art Festival, ESTAU. It is a 360 piece around an old fisherman hunting house and tells the story of the metamorphosis of a boy into the elements and animals that inhabit the body of water that sometimes submerges it.
These are murals that I+ve made over the years with household names like the Underdogs Gallery, Mistaker Maker and Circus Network.
These illustrations made for Hopkins Medical Magazine, had an interesting twist to it as I, not being particularly interested in medical information, had the chance to dive into it and give it a fresh look departing from the usual infographic narrative style one normally sees in this kind of publication.
These two illustrations were made for a promotional special launching package and poster for Nespresso. The theme was saudade and my idea was to convey the nostalgic atmosphere of sharing a cup of coffee with friends.
